Consumer IoT and its under‐regulation: Findings from an Australian study

The expansive growth of consumer internet things (IoT) has created a range concerns around privacy, security, and their broader societal impacts. This article reports on findings from interviews with 32 key stakeholders the fields information policy regulation, IoT industry, privacy law, academia in Australia. It details broad variety issues that go beyond well-recognised issue or technical standards to encompass wider set regarding implications for vulnerable communities, environment industrial production. Most expressed view more robust regulation is required Australia, but no clear regulatory priority strategy was identified by our sample. these further future strategies are considered.
